A passport that is expired, expiring soon, or requires certain changes can generally be applied for under Re-issue of Passport.
Applicants should carry the original documents along with one set of self-attested photocopies to the PSK.

Need a passport urgently? Eligible applicants can apply under the Tatkaal Scheme by paying the applicable additional Tatkaal fee.
For applicants 18 years and above, Passport Seva requires any three documents from its specified Tatkaal document list, along with the applicable address, date-of-birth and Non-ECR documents where required.
For applicants below 18 years, any two specified documents are required from the applicable Tatkaal list.

Fresh Passport: Up to 30 working days, excluding the police-verification period.
Re-issue: Up to 7 working days where pre-police verification is not required, or up to 30 working days where police verification is required, excluding the police-verification period.
For eligible Tatkaal applications, the Passport Seva Citizen’s Charter specifies up to 3 working days, subject to the applicable conditions and successful processing. Passport Seva also states that Tatkaal passports are generally dispatched on the third working day excluding the date of submission when issued under post-police-verification processing.
Important: Processing times are subject to document verification, police verification where applicable, Passport Office processing and the applicant’s eligibility. A R Enterprises provides application assistance but the final decision to issue the passport rests with the Passport Authority.
